Sometimes, when nature closes a door, she opens a window. Case in point: This adorable bobcat kitten, found orphaned and alone, who was adopted by a sweet rescue stray.
Meet Bob (the kitten) and SweetPea (his new mama!).
A rescuer showed up at the Sarge's Animal Rescue Foundation on May 3rd with a tiny kitten in tow. This was no ordinary feral, however--he was a bobcat kitten, wild by nature and in desperate need of help.
The woman that found the bobcat reported seeing the kitten's mother the night before during a storm--but somehow, when the storm passed, the kitten was left behind.
Babies this young need mothers--and, crucially, mother's milk--to have a shot at survival. As fate would have it, a stray mama cat and her five babies had been rescued by Sarge's that same day.
An introduction was made...and it was love at first nose tap!
Bob still faced challenges, and wasn't as quick to wean as Sweet Pea's other babies. But he wouldn't have had a chance at all if not for a handful of compassionate rescuers, his own fighting spirit, and the love of a good mama!
True love knows no bounds!
Two weeks ago, Bob was headed to a wildlife rescue in the hopes that he can be reintroduced into the wild. Still, we're sure he'll always have warm memories of his foster mom--and the loving humans who brought them together.
"Bob is on his way and says goodbye to his surrogate Mom."
